Thank you for coming to Muirenn’s home on the web, which is in part a blog to talk about my latest projects, and in part a site to collect and share resources for those with an interest in the past. My studies primarily focus on Western Europe between 1300 and 1500, but I have been known to go as far back as Iron Age Ireland and as far forward as 1650 (the world gets very “modern” (and thus boring in my estimation of history) right around the time that the Roundheads started causing trouble in England).
There is a blog (see the nav bar in the header) which includes all of my class handouts for SCA topics, and over time will include more on things I’m researching, and things I’ve researched. The resources page is hopefully going to grow, stage one (where we are now) is a list of research resources, places you can go for extant manuscripts, and clothing etc; as well as the list of “big” items, things that are regularly brought up in A&S circles, with links their formal museum home (if I can find one). The links are direct to the collection search page for the sources list, and to the item at a museum/archive site if there is one. Both have very basic information about what you will find there. I’ve found over the years, that just knowing where to look is the single most important skill in growing your focus on historic authenticity within the SCA (and research in general).
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or thoughts, my email and discord are both on the footer of every page.
